GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- North Dakota returns to the Alerus Center for the start of two straight at home on Saturday afternoon against Youngstown State at noon from Grand Forks.Â
Fans can watch the action on Midco Sports and ESPN+, as Alex Heinert and Ryan Kasowski call the action or tune into the Home of Economy Radio Network with Jack Michaels, Tom Dosch and Paul Ralston.Â
This is the third meeting between North Dakota and Youngstown State, with UND sweeping the previous meetings in 1961 and 1962. The Fighting Sioux earned a road victory in 1961 before defeating the Penguins at Memorial Stadium the following year. Saturday will mark the first meeting as conference foes, as last season's contests were canceled.Â
UND did nearly everything right, but a pair of late fumbles saw No. 17 Missouri State rally from an 11-point deficit in the final four minutes to steal a 32-28 victory in Springfield last weekend. The Hawks averaged 6.2 yards per rush and 13.2 yards per pass compared to MSU averaging 4.8 yards per carry and 12.0 yards per play through the air and held the ball for nearly 33 minutes.
Otis Weah paced a rushing attack that eclipsed the 200-yard mark for the second straight game, scampering for 156 yards on 21 carries and matching his career high with three scores. It marks the second time this season that Weah has found the end zone three times in one game, with the previous time coming in the season opener at Idaho State.
The defeat marks the fourth in league play and fifth overall, with all four of those league losses coming by one score. The average margin of victory in those games is five points and is the first time that North Dakota has suffered four-or-more losses by one score since 2002 when the Fighting Sioux lost four straight games by one score.
