NOTES: UND looks to continue one streak, halt another in Omaha

Next Game: at Omaha
The University of North Dakota men's basketball team will look to make it three straight wins in the penultimate game of the regular season against Omaha on Friday night at 7 p.m. from Baxter Arena. Fans can catch all the action for free on OMavs.com or tune into Paul Ralston on the Home of Economy Radio Network.

Series History vs. Omaha
This will be the 97th all-time meeting between North Dakota and Omaha, with UND holding a 54-42 advantage in the series. While UND holds the series historically, recent matchups belong to Omaha as the Mavs have won the last 12 contests dating back to 2007 when both were members of Division II.

Since the two became conference foes again in 2018-19, the Mavs have won all five meetings; however, four of those have been by less than five points and two saw the lead exchange hands in the final 30 seconds of the game.

Nine Is Fine
The nine-point win over South Dakota on Feb. 13 was the largest margin of victory by UND this season, with all eight of its wins coming by single digits. The Hawks are 6-3 this season in games decided by five-or-fewer points and 5-1 in league play. The last win by double digits by UND came over Purdue Fort Wayne in a 73-56 triumph on March 9, 2020 in the Summit League Tournament Semifinals.

Four!
UND has to be feeling good following a pair of wins over South Dakota, as it was the first time that the green and white have clipped the Coyotes in four straight games since a stretch from 1986-1988 when the Sioux won five straight over USD.

Sweet Sweep!
UND picked up its first conference sweep of the season with a pair of victories over South Dakota, marking the first time the Fighting Hawks have won back-to-back games this year.

The Hawks will now be searching for their first three-game winning streak since Nov. 26-30, 2019 vs. North Central, at Florida Gulf Coast and vs. Georgia Southern. The last three-game winning streak in league play came Feb. 16-28, 2019 vs. Oral Roberts, Denver and at Purdue Fort Wayne.

80 Has Never Looked Better
80 has proven to be the magic number for the Fighting Hawks over the last four seasons. UND owns a 46-10 record in those contests and its first two losses were against ranked opponents (100-82 vs. No. 2 Arizona; NCAA Tournament and 89-83 (OT) at No. 12 Gonzaga).

UND is 22-6 over the last three seasons when crossing 80 points, including an 8-3 mark in 2019-20 and a 4-2 mark in 2020-21.

After averaging the worst scoring average during nonconference play in the league and ranking among the bottom 10 percent in the nation, UND has 70-or-more points in nine straight games following a season-low 45 points vs. NDSU on Jan. 15 and has crossed the 80-point mark in six straight. The 80-point streak is the longest by a UND team since Feb. 3-18, 1995.
