Chris Evenson Sets UND Shot Put Record At Mizzou Spring Opener
Columbia, Mo – A big day for the Fighting Hawk throwers, highlighted by junior Chris Evenson's school record in the shot put, was the story on day two of the Mizzou Spring Opener.

In the third round, Evenson's 17.93m (58-10) effort was the best of the day, as he beat three competitors from the Big XII Conference and a Southeastern Conference performer amongst others.  Coming into the day, Evenson was tenth on the UND top ten list in the event with a throw of 54-3.75 two years ago at South Dakota.  In addition to claiming the top spot on the shot put chart, Evenson is third in school history in the discus making him one of the most decorated throwers in UND history.

The Fighting Hawks had an impressive showing in the women's discus going 2-4-6-7-8.  Junior Destinee Rose-Haas finished second with a mark of 53.43m (175-3) which moves her up to second all-time at UND from the third position she sat in coming into the day.  Makala Keefe finished fourth with a throw of 47.96m (157-4) which elevates her from ninth to sixth on the UND top ten list.  Natalie Mohring finished sixth with a mark of 45.65m (149-9) which is tenth in school history.  Kenna Curry and Eve Goldstein finish seventh and eight respectively.

Goldstein had an impressive outdoor debut in the outdoor shot put.  The freshman goes 14.54m (47-8.5) on her fifth throw of the day to finish third.  That mark makes her the third best in school history in just her first outdoor meet of her career.  She is now within less than two feet from school record holder Katelyn Weber's throw of 50-4 set in 2018 at North Dakota State.

On the track Lucy Steinmeyer won the 200m and took second in the 400m.  In both events she moved up the UND top ten list. Her 400m time of 54.95 moved her up three spots to third all-time at UND.  Later, in the 200m, she clocked a 24.63 to win.  She climbs three spots to second on the 200m all-time UND list.
