UND completes perfect weekend in Milwaukee with 7-0 win over EIU

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team capped off a perfect trip to Milwaukee, Wis., cruising to a 7-0 win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday afternoon.

UND (2-2) did not drop a set on either the singles or doubles courts on the day, finishing the weekend with a 27-3 mark against Marquette and EIU.

The Fighting Hawks got off to the start they wanted in doubles play to quickly jump out to a 1-0 lead. On the top court, Nikita Snezhko and Gerhard Sullwald opened up play with a 6-1 victory before Edmond Aynedjian and Cian McDonnell picked up the two-man point by a 6-1 score as well. Riley Odell and Dylan Leeman sealed the perfect start to the match, notching a 7-5 triumph at the No. 3 position.

Singles play did not slow down the momentum of the green and white, with McDonnell posting a 6-0, 6-1 victory on the No. 3 court to extend the advantage to 2-0. Leeman pushed the match to its brink at the bottom spot, as the freshman posted a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Odell came through as the clincher for the Fighting Hawks at the No. 4 spot by a 6-1, 6-2 score to seal the match win. Snezhko and Aynedjian capped off perfect weekends on the courts, with the Iowa transfer picking up a 6-1, 6-4 win on the fifth court and Aynedjian battling to a 7-6, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 position.

Sullwald polished off the sweep on the top court with a 7-5, 6-4 triumph.

North Dakota returns to action next weekend with a trip to Boise, Idaho to battle Seattle on Saturday and Boise State on Sunday.
