GRAND FORKS, N.D. - North Dakota begins Summit League play on Monday night, visiting St. Thomas at 7 p.m. Fans can follow all the action on Tommies All-Access, as well as by tuning into Paul Ralston's call on the Home of Economy Radio Network (100.3 FM).
Series History vs. the Tommies
This will be the 15th meeting between the North Dakota and St. Thomas basketball programs, with UND holding an 8-6 edge in the series. Meanwhile, the Tommies hold a 3-2 series lead in games played on its home court.
Last season, the two teams split the series with the Fighting Hawks winning at Schoenecker Arena by a tally of 78-70 on Feb. 10, 2022. The Tommies returned the favor 12 days later, winning in Grand Forks by a score of 84-74.
Last Time Out
Five Fighting Hawks netted double figures on Monday, defeating North Central inside the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, 99-48. In the game, North Dakota scored the opening bucket and never looked back, leading the entire way after that point.
UND shot 59.4 percent (38-for-64) in the contest, while NCU struggled knocking down shots and finished hitting at 31.8 percent.
Brady Danielson paced the Fighting Hawks with a season-high 14 points in 13 minutes. He was 5-for-5 from the floor and 4-for-4 from deep.
Going Deep
The Fighting Hawks enter conference play with the No. 1 team in bench scoring in the league and the No. 19 team nationally in that category. The Fighting Hawks average 32.15 points per game from the reserves this season. The next closest bench in the Summit League is NDSU with 23.75 points coming from its reserves.
Turning the Corner
North Dakota has made strides already this season and picked up its sixth win of the season on Monday, matching its win total from the 2021-22 season. It has also matched its amount of Division I wins from last season with four victories over DI opponents in the month of November. The Fighting Hawks also put together a three-game winning streak for the first time since Nov. 26 - Nov. 30, 2019, with victories over Wisconsin-Stout, Utah Tech and Cal State Fullerton.
