Boise State defeats UND, 4-1, in weekend finale

BOISE, Idaho -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to Boise State on Sunday evening from the Boas Indoor Tennis Center.

UND (3-3) saw its three-match winning streak come to an end and fall to 1-1 on the weekend after taking down Seattle U on Saturday.

The Broncos (4-4) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in doubles action with victories on the No. 2 and No. 3 court before stretching the lead to 2-0 moving into singles play following a pair of 6-2 scores from the No. 2 court.

The deficit didn't thwart the spirit of the visitors, clawing the lead down to 2-1 on the third spot. Cian McDonnell notched a 6-3, 6-2 victory to pull the Fighting Hawks within a point, but a pair of close wins on the No. 1 and No. 4 court by the Broncos sealed the match.

North Dakota returns to Grand Forks to open the home portion of its schedule this weekend against Gustavus Adolphus and Augustana on Saturday from Choice Health and Fitness.
