ORLANDO -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team began its stretch of four matches over four straight days on a strong note Tuesday, rolling to a 7-0 win over Millsaps College from the USTA National Campus Collegiate Center in Orlando, Fla.
UND (8-5) won each set played on the evening to grab its third win over the last four matches.
In doubles action,
Edmond Aynedjian and
Petro Alex started off play with a 6-0 win at the No. 3 court before a 6-2 victory from
Nikita Snezhko and
Gerhard Sullwald from the top spot clinched the point in two-man play for the Fighting Hawks.
Cian McDonnell and
Riley Odell sealed the perfect start for the green and white by a 6-3 score in the middle position.
Moving to singles, it was nearly a straight domination by UND, surrendering no more than four points in a set to post the clean sweep.
Dylan Leeman rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 5 court while Alex followed suit with a 6-1, 6-0 victory from the bottom spot.
A pair of 6-2, 6-2 triumphs from both McDonnell and Aynedjian at the top-two courts added the third and fourth wins of singles play for the Hawks before Snezhko's 6-1, 6-2 score at the No. 4 spot and Odell's 6-4, 6-2 win from the third position capped off the overall match victory.
North Dakota returns right back to the courts tomorrow for an 11 a.m. showdown against St. Joe's.
