TULSA, Okla. -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team fell, 6-1, to No. 31 Tulsa on Sunday morning to close out the weekend in Tulsa, Okla.
UND (7-5) finishes the weekend with a 1-1 record, picking up a big conference win over Oral Roberts on Friday before falling to the Golden Hurricane.
In doubles action, Tulsa jumped out to a 1-0 lead with wins on the second and third courts to take the early advantage.
Gerhard Sullwald and
Nikita Snezhko held a 5-2 lead in their match at the top spot when play was halted.
Dylan Leeman earned the solo point for the Fighting Hawks at the No. 6 court in a three-set thriller. The freshman bounced back from a 6-3 loss in the opening set with a 7-5 win in the middle stanza to push the match to a tiebreaker. There, Leeman held on for a 10-8 score to get the visitors on the board.
That was as close as the green and white would get, with the Golden Hurricane winning the remaining five singles matches in two sets.
North Dakota will head to Florida for a stretch of four matches beginning on Tuesday against Millsaps College.
