SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Junior
Kacie Borowicz tacked on another award for the 2021-22 basketball season, picking up her first career Academic All-Summit League honor.
Borowicz, a product of Roseau, Minn., has maintained a 3.93 GPA in the classroom at North Dakota and is majoring in Kinesiology. The junior led the Fighting Hawks in points (19.4), assists (4.4) and went 95.7 percent from the free throw line. She led the Summit League in scoring and free-throw percentage while sitting second in assists.
Throughout the season, the All-Summit League first team honoree recorded two 30-plus point games and posted double-figure scoring efforts in 25 of the 27 games she played in. She earned Summit League Player of the Week twice this season (Jan. 17 and Jan. 24) and earned Summit League Athlete of the Month in January.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of his team's competitions.
Nominations are brought forth by sports information directors from the league's ten institutions and voting is conducted by both the SIDs and facility athletic representatives (FARs). The team is made up of the five student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
