ESTERO, Fla. – Former North Dakota goaltender Cam Johnson can add another title in the state of Florida to his trophy case. After leading the program to its eighth national title in 2016 down in Tampa, Johnson helped the ECHL's Florida Everblades capture the league's title in five games over the Toledo Walleye on Saturday in Estero, Fla.

Johnson was named the league's MVP of the postseason, finishing with a 15-3 record, a .931 save percentage and a 1.90 GAA to help the franchise win its second title. Four of those 15 victories came via a shutout, the second-most all-time in a single postseason in league history.

The Troy, Mich., native played four seasons for North Dakota from 2014-18, ranking fourth all-time in wins (56), sixth in games (102), second in GAA (2.10), sixth in save percentage (.914) and second in shutouts (12) over his career.

During his sophomore season, Johnson posted the longest shutout streak in program history and second-longest in NCAA men's ice hockey history at 298 minutes, 25 seconds.

He usually saved his best play for the postseason, helping the Fighting Hawks win the NCAA Midwest Regional in 2016 with victories over Northeastern and Michigan and earning the regional's most outstanding player award. Two weeks later, Johnson allowed just three goals against Denver and Quinnipiac to earn all-tournament team honors and help capture a national championship.
