GREEN BAY, Wis. – North Dakota volleyball fell 3-0 to Green Bay and 3-2 to SIUE on the first day of the Green Bay Invite on Friday, Sept. 16.

Green Bay took an early lead in the first set going on a 7-0 run before North Dakota put a point on the board. UND fought hard in the first set, but they were unable to overcome GB as they fell 25-12. The Fighting Hawks ended the first set with eight kills, six errors and 31 total attacks compared to the Phoenix's 12 kills, two errors and 32 total attacks. In the second set, UND took an early 2-0 lead. The teams then traded points, but it was Green Bay who extended the lead and did not look back as they took the second set 25-14. UND added ten kills to their initial eight. The Fighting Hawks came out fighting in the third set as they came back from five-point deficit (20-15) late in the set to make it 20-19. They continued to play the Phoenix tightly as they tied the set at 22, but UND was unable to hold on to force a fourth as they lost 25-23 to give Green Bay the 3-0 victory.
 
The second match of the day against SIUE saw a hard-fought battle. The teams traded the lead early on, but North Dakota took a 13-11 lead halfway. It was a tight set, but North Dakota took the 26-24 win. The second set was like the first as the teams battled for the lead. It was North Dakota who came out victorious as they won the second set 25-21. The match was far from over as the third set remained tight between the two squads. SIUE was able to pull away to win 25-18. The fourth set was another tussle as North Dakota tried to close out the match, but SIUE kept pushing and took the set 29-27 to extend the match to five sets. In the fifth set, the Fighting Hawks were unable to take the momentum from the Cougars as the fell 15-12 to give them the 3-2 win.

North Dakota ended the day with 101 kills. They had 34 kills against Green Bay and 67 kills against SIUE. The opponents had a combined 101 kills as Green Bay had 39 while SIUE had 62.

The Hawks will round out the Green bay Invite on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. CT against Drake.

• North Dakota drops to 2-8 on the season. 
• The loss against SIUE is the first 2-3 loss of the season for the Fighting Hawks and extends a five-game losing streak.
• Ashlyn Olson led the Fighting Hawks against the Phoenix with 11 kills and 12 points. She had two blocks in the match.
• Marissa Stockman had 8.5 points, seven kills, three blocks and a dig against Green Bay.
• Kortney Carney and Izzy McCormick led the defense with ten digs each against the Phoenix.
• Maddie Lipetzky had three blocks and three kills against Green Bay to match Stockman's three blocks.
• Statistically, Green Bay defeated UND in all categories except digs. UND had 47 while GB had 46.
• Ashlyn Olson recorded a season-high 17 kills against SIUE to lead the Fighting Hawks in the match. She had 18 points, two blocks and three digs.  
• Marissa Stockman had a season-high 13 kills and 15 points against the Cougars. She ended the match with four blocks.
• Izzy McCormick led the defense with a season-high 15 digs against SIUE. She was followed closely by Maddy Hornyak who recorded 12.  
• Statistically, UND defeated SIUE in kills with 67 compared to their 62 and in assists with 63 compared to their 53. The teams tied in blocks as both had eight.
