NOTES: North Dakota Visits Denver for Weekend Tilt

| By:
GRAND FORKS, N.D. - North Dakota will wrap up their two-game road swing Saturday at 2 p.m. (CT) as they take on the University of Denver in Summit League action. Fans can follow all the action on Pioneers All-Access, as well as by tuning into Paul Ralston's call on the Home of Economy Radio Network (100.3 FM).

Series History vs. the Pioneers
Saturday's contest will be the 11th all-time meeting between the North Dakota and Denver men's basketball programs. The series is tied at 5-5, with UND holding a 5-3 edge since joining the Summit League in 2019.

Last season, Denver took both meetings, starting with a 93-74 decision in Denver and then an 81-79 overtime thriller in Grand Forks later in the year.

UND is looking to snap a three-game losing streak to the Pioneers, with their last win in the series coming on Feb. 5, 2021 in Denver, which was an 85-82 overtime win. Three of the last four games between the conference foes have headed to overtime.

Last Time Out
North Dakota fell 69-63 at Omaha on Thursday evening. UND had three players in double figures (Treysen Eaglestaff with 13, Matt Norman with 12 and Tsonte Tsartsidze with 11), but it was not enough to hold off the Mavericks in a game in which was tightly contested throughout.

The first half seesawed back and forth as Omaha started the game fast, but UND fought back to go up 15-10 after an 11-2 run with Matt Norman hitting two of his four first half threes in the stretch. UND led a good portion of the half and took a two point lead (31-29) into the locker room. The start of the second half went at a blistering pace with neither team able to pull away, but Omaha took the lead with 9:09 to go and held off the Hawks from there.

Tsotne Tsartsidze had his first career double-double with 11 points and a team high 12 rebounds in 37 minutes of play. He also added two blocked shots. He made four field goals, went 3-3 from the free throw line and picked up a steal.

Treysen Eaglestaff led the way with 13 points for the Hawks, good for his fifth game in double figures this season. Three of his made field goals came from downtown and he set a new season-high with three steals. He is up to 15 steals on the season and has had multiple steals in three of the last four games.

Matt Norman was second on the team with 12 points in 16 minutes of action off the bench. It was the second consecutive game with a dozen for Norman, he made four of the team's six three pointers in the first half.

Bench Boost
North Dakota comes into the matchup with the most bench scoring in the Summit League and the No. 29 team nationally in that category. The Fighting Hawks are averaging 28.22 points per game from the reserves this season. The next closest bench in the league is Omaha at 23.11.

Solidify the Five
North Dakota has used eight different starting combinations this season, but the same five have started the last three games (Jalun Trent, Treysen Eaglestaff, Brady Danielson, B.J. Omot and Tsotne Tsartsidze). There were nine variations of the starting lineup last season. On the team, Tsartsidze has the most active consecutive starts currently with 38, followed by Omot with 18. Danielson and Eaglestaff have also worked their ways into starting roles and have started the last five games. Trent made his third straight start on Thursday.
