Grand Forks, N.D. - For just the second time since the 2003 season, North Dakota will host North Dakota State inside the Alerus Center this Saturday. Kickoff between the Fighting Hawks and Bison is set for 1 p.m. The game will be televised on Midco Sports. It will also be carried on the Home of Economy Radio Network with a pregame show starting at Noon.
UND enters the weekend with a 3-2 record and a 1-1 standing in the MVFC after routing WIU last week, 49-10. The Fighting Hawks scored touchdowns on six of its eight possessions and the defense played a large role in the victory, holding the Leathernecks to 197 yards of total offense and just 31 yards rushing. NoDak finished the game with 5.0 sacks and 9.0 tackles-for-loss.
NDSU comes to Grand Forks with an overall record of 4-1 and a 1-1 mark in MVFC play after winning at Missouri State, 38-10, last weekend. North Dakota State piled up 534 yards of total offense and forced four turnovers in the win. The Bison scored touchdowns on their opening two possessions and racked up 351 yards of offense before halftime to build a 28-7 lead.
This will be the 116th meeting between UND and NDSU. North Dakota holds a 62-50-3 lead in the series all-time, including a 34-22-2 series lead at home. The rivalry dates back to 1894, tying it for the eighth-oldest college football rivalry among the likes of Oregon-Oregon State's "Civil War" and Texas-Texas A&M. In the most recent version of the game in Grand Forks at the Alerus Center, No. 5 North Dakota State outlasted No. 10 North Dakota, 16-10, on Oct. 2, 2021.
