GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Family Weekend activities around the University of North Dakota campus will now include sold-out football and hockey games, with more than 35,000 combined spectators expected at those contests during a 24-hour window, athletic department officials announced Thursday.

Fans still looking to attend UND's Friday and Saturday night hockey contests against Bentley at the Ralph Engelstad Arena and Saturday afternoon's "White Out" football game against top-ranked South Dakota State at the Alerus Center are encouraged to use ticketmaster.com to purchase verified resale tickets for both events (direct links >> hockey | football).

"Grand Forks is certainly the place to be this weekend," UND Deputy Director of Athletics Erik Martinson said. "With fans, families and friend from across the region on campus, we have a unique chance to highlight everything that makes our University and community special. Full venues for hockey and football will only add to that experience."

As a reminder, ticket offices at both venues will not be able to accommodate walk-up sales, including Jr. Champions member ticket redemptions.

Promotions for hockey this weekend include "Heroes Among Us" for Friday night's 7:07 p.m. CT puck drop where UND and the REA will celebrate groups of police, firefighters, healthcare workers, EMS and military from the surrounding communities. Then, prior to Saturday night's 6:07 p.m. CT puck drop, the first of two "One More Shift" celebrations this season will take place as Mark Taylor, a 1980 All-American and National College Player of the Year, returns to Grand Forks to be honored.

For Saturday's football clash with the Jackrabbits at 1 p.m. CT, fans will receive a white rally towel and are encouraged to wear white to help create a true "White Out" atmosphere while cheering on the Fighting Hawks.

The North Dakota volleyball team will also be in action during Family Weekend. The Fighting Hawks play South Dakota Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT and South Dakota State Saturday morning at 11 a.m. CT at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
