GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The North Dakota men's basketball team seeks their third straight win as they head to Stockton, Calif. for the return of a home-and-home series with the Pacific Tigers. Last season the Tigers won in Grand Forks, and the Fighting Hawks seek to return the favor this year. It will be the first of two trips to the Golden State this year, as NoDak will go back at the start of December for games against Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside.
Next Game: vs. Pacific
North Dakota will travel to Stockton, Calif. to take on Pacific University at the Alex G. Spanos Center Monday, Nov. 20. Paul Ralston will be on the call on the Home of Economy Radio Network, and the game can be seen on ESPN+.
Series History vs. the Tigers
The Fighting Hawks have played Pacific four times in program history, with UND trailing 1-3 in the series. The first meeting came in 1977, won by Pacific in Stockton. The next year UND got their lone win in Grand Forks 72-67. The most recent meeting came last year in Grand Forks, which was won by Pacific 93-63.
Last Season
North Dakota finished the 2022-23 campaign with a 13-20 record, a seven win improvement over 2021-22. The Fighting Hawks won their first Summit League Tournament game in three years with an 83-68 win over Denver in the first game of the tournament. The team won six of their last nine games, regular and postseason, last year.
Living Downtown
This year the team broke the program record for three pointers made in a single game with 18 against Kansas City, breaking the record set on December 14, 2021 against North Central University. Before the North Central win, the previous UND record for made shots beyond the arc in a single game was 16, which was tied three times, most recently on Dec. 17, 2019, in a 109-50 victory over Northland College inside the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.Â
North Dakota has hit at least one triple in every game dating back to Mar. 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks did not make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when UND went 0-for-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. North Dakota has hit at least one three in each of the last 160 games played.
