NOTES: Fighting Hawks back home for meeting with Minot State

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota women's basketball hosts Minot State Tuesday night at 5:00 p.m. in the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Fighting Hawks return to the Betty following a pair of games in Hattiesburg, Miss. at the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic Friday and Saturday.

Series History vs Minot State
NoDak holds a 12-6 lead in the all-time series against Minot State and are 9-2 in games played in Grand Forks. Tuesday's game will be the first meeting between the Hawks and Beavers in over a decade as they last met on January 13, 2011. UND downed Minot State 76-60 in that meeting and have won 10 straight over the Beavers.
 
Last Time Out: vs North Texas
UND was unable to overcome a slow start Saturday morning against North Texas, falling behind 25-6 after the first quarter of play. The Hawks began to chip away at the Mean Green lead late in the contest, scoring  nine straight points early in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to six, 50-44. Following the North Dakota run, North Texas pulled away to secure the 71-50 win.
 
Kiyah Hurst led the team in scoring for the first time this season with 12 points to go with three rebounds and two steals. Guard Jayla Owen set a new career high and paced the Hawks with six rebounds.
 
Freshmen in the Starting Five
Kiera Pemberton and Nevaeh Ferrara Horne made their first starts in the green and white Saturday morning against North Texas. Pemberton tallied eight points and four rebounds against the Mean Green, while Ferrara Horne had two points, four boards and one steal.
 
Pemberton is the top rebounder for the Hawks at 6.5 boards per game. She is active on the offensive glass, hauling in 2.2 offensive rebounds per game. Pemberton averages 7.2 points per game on a .500 shooting percentage.
 
Pemberton Posts First Career Double-Double
In her first game at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, freshman Kiera Pemberton posted her first career double-double in the green and white. Pemberton poured in 18 points on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting and was active on the boards with 11 total rebounds.
 
She helped the NoDak offense push the pace, securing eight defensive rebounds with three of those boards resulting in seven fast break points for the freshman. Pemberton corralled three offensive rebounds and went 4-for-7 from the free throw line.
 
Pemberton is no stranger to stuffing the stats sheet, as she averaged 34 points and 14 rebounds per game in her final season at Walnut Groce Secondary. She dominated the British Columbia Provincial Championships with a staggering 41.5 points and 14 rebounds per game over four games.
