Women's basketball adds two on National Signing Day

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Head Coach Mallory Bernhard and the University of North Dakota women's basketball program has announced two prospective student-athletes have signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at UND. The two signees are a pair of guards from North Dakota and South Dakota.

Jocie Schiller | 5-7 | G | Grand Forks, N.D | Grand Forks Red River HS

Is a multisport standout at Grand Forks Red River … Led the Roughriders to a 2023 Class A Girls Basketball State Championship and set a Class A State Championship game scoring record with 34 points … Named the 2023 State Tournament MVP for her efforts … Named the 2022-23 North Dakota Class A Girls Basketball Player of the Year by Midco Sports … A two-time Class A All-State First Team selection and a two-time All-State Tournament Team pick … Was a monster on both sides of the floor in her junior season averaging 25.6 points, 6.0 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 6.5 steals per game … Heading into her senior season she is the Roughriders career leader in points scored with 1,582, assists with 448 and steals with 452 … Also a track and field and cross-country standout … Won the North Dakota Class A Individual Cross-Country title this fall … Also won Class A state titles in the 400-meter, 4x400 relay and 4x800 relay this past spring … she is a three-time All-State selection in track and field and is a part of two school relay records … Has been named the Grand Forks Red River HS Female Athlete of the Year in 9th, 10th and 11th grade.

Skyler Volmer | 5-9 | G | Presho, S.D. | Lyman HS

Has been a starter at Lyman HS since 8th grade and led the Raiders to the Class B SoDak 16 last season … Was named the Western Great Plains Conference MVP and was an All-State selection as a junior … Averaged 18.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game … Eclipsed the 1,000-point mark last January … Averaged 18 points per game as a freshman and 17 points per contest as a sophomore … Also a standout in volleyball and track and field for the Raiders … Was an all-conference selection in volleyball … Placed in four state track and field events last year, including second in the high jump, second in the 110-meter hurdles and third in triple jump … Holds the Lyman school record in the high jump.
