NOTES: Men's Basketball Hosts Waldorf on Tuesday

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The North Dakota men's basketball team will play its second to last home game of 2023 on Tuesday night. NoDak is looking to snap a three game losing streak as Waldorf University comes to the Betty. The Fighting Hawks are 6-4 on the season while the Warriors come into the week at 4-6.

North Dakota will play its penultimate home game of 2023 on Tuesday night against Waldorf (Iowa) at 7:00 p.m.

 

Series History vs. the Warriors

The two teams have met four times, with the first meeting coming in 2009—a 77-46 win for UND. The Fighting Hawks have won all four meetings in the series—the later meetings coming in 2010, 2011 and 2015.

 

Scouting the Opponent

The Warriors are led by UND alum Nigel Jenkins, who is in his 13th year leading the team. This season the team is averaging 73.8 points per game, while allowing 76. From the field they are shooting .415, .339 from three and .580 from the foul line.   

Cartier Parr leads the team with 13 points per game, with Khalil Grayson and Kaelon Harkema close behind averaging 12.6. Ugo Ejiofor is close to double figures with 9.9 points per game and leads the team in rebounds with 8.9 per contest. Khyle Washington leads the team with 3.4 assists per game and also averages 9.8 points a night. Noah Miller is their leading shooter from deep with 22 made threes.

 

Living Downtown

Last season the team broke the program record for three pointers made in a single game with 18 against Kansas City, breaking the record set on December 14, 2021 against North Central University.

North Dakota has hit at least one triple in every game dating back to Mar. 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks did not make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when UND went 0-for-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. North Dakota has hit at least one three in each of the last 167 games played.

Last Season

North Dakota finished the 2022-23 campaign with a 13-20 record, a seven win improvement over 2021-22. The Fighting Hawks won their first Summit League Tournament game in three years with an 83-68 win over Denver in the first game of the tournament. The team won six of their last nine games, regular and postseason, last year.
