North Dakota back to No. 1 in both polls

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- North Dakota is back to the top spot in both the USCHO.com and USA Hockey/The Rink Live polls, which were released on Monday afternoon.It marks the second time this season that UND has climbed to the No. 1 ranking, having claimed the spot on Nov. 20 before dropping to No. 2 the next week despite a sweep. 

The Fighting Hawks are coming off another winning weekend in NCHC play, grabbing four of the possible six points at then-No. 3 Denver. UND rallied from a three-goal deficit to defeat the Pioneers by a 7-5 score on Friday night before suffering an overtime loss on Saturday night to see its eight-game winning streak come to an end. 

NoDak enters the final regular season weekend of the 2023 calendar year with an overall record of 12-3-1 and a 5-1-0 mark in NCHC play, sitting second in the league standings with 16 points. The 12-3-1 start is the best record through 16 games for the team since 2020-21 squad had the identical mark. 

North Dakota closes out the first half of the season against Colorado College with a series beginning on Friday night at 7:07 p.m. from Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks. Fans can catch the action on Midco Sports, NCHC.tv and the Home of Economy Radio Network.
