ST. PAUL, MN – The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks (18-10, 11-7 SL) lost in a tight battle against St. Thomas Tommies (12-16, 7-11 SL).
North Dakota will take 3
rd in the Summit League standings heading into the tournament. UND will play on Sunday March 5
th against the number 6 seed.
Kacie Borowicz led with 22 points.
Nakiyah Hurst had 18 pts
Juliet Gordon both had 18 pts and led with eight rebounds.
Joli Daninger led with four steals.
North Dakota went into St. Paul this afternoon on their senior day and struggled to start the game despite Borowicz opening the scoring with two free-throws. St Thomas followed up on a 10-2 start. North Dakota pushed back in the final minutes of the quarter to tie the game at 15 a side. The second would be full slow with mistakes from both teams. However, The Tommies would take a slim two-point lead into the break.
The Hawks came out of the locker room hot dropping 27 points, Hurst collected 12 of her 18 in the third quarter and would take the lead. The tables turned in the fourth and final quarter of the regular season when St. Thomas would outscore North Dakota 25 to 14. UND falls to St. Thomas 74-68.
North Dakota will head to Sioux Falls to play in the Summit League tournament that kicks off on Friday March 3
rd and runs through Tuesday March 7
th. The tournament will be broadcast on Midco and North Dakota games will be carried on the Home of Economy Radio Network.
