SAN FRANCISCO, Calif./STANFORD, Calif. – The North Dakota track and field teams saw action in a pair of California meets on Friday that crept into the early morning hours of Saturday in the central time zone. Aleksa Milanovic broke the school record at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, while Austin Wolf tied the No. 2 high jump clearance in school history at Stanford.

Milanovic was the first Fighting Hawk to compete on Friday and made headlines at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, breaking the school record in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:51.17. That time not only allowed Milanovic to place seventh, but broke the record of Chad Heltemes, who originally set it at 3:51.34 at the 1998 NCAA Outdoor National Championships.

Alec Nelson and Jesse Middendorf ran with Milanovic in the 1,500 meters and both missed the UND top-10 list by less than a second, finishing with times of 3:58.56 and 3:58.86, respectively.

At the Stanford Invitational, Wolf had the top finish for UND and was the runner-up in the high jump with a PR height of 7-0 1/4 (2.14m). That clearance tied him for the No. 2 clearance in school history.

Natalie Mohring placed fifth in the invitational section of the hammer throw with a toss of 180-11 (55.15m).

Earlier in the meet, Kenna Curry and Allison Lardy competed in the invitational section of the shot put. Curry placed sixth with a personal-best throw of 45-10 1/2 (13.98m), improving her No. 8 mark on the UND top-10 list in the process. Lardy was right behind her and took seventh with a mark of 45-9 3/4 (13.96m).

A few hours later, Eve Goldstein threw in the collegiate section of the shot put and finished third with a toss of 43-1 1/2 (13.14m).

Ashley Conneran also placed at Stanford, tying for eighth in the high jump with a height of 5-1 (1.55m).

North Dakota will wrap up competition at both the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and Stanford Invitational on Saturday. Live results for all meets can be found on FightingHawks.com.
