Garrett Pyke transfers to North Dakota for 2023-24 season

| By:

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota head hockey coach Brad Berry announced on Tuesday that defenseman Garrett Pyke will join North Dakota for the 2023-24 season with one remaining year of eligibility.

"We are excited to have Garrett join our hockey program at North Dakota," said Berry. "Garrett is an outstanding and experienced defenseman that played a key role on his former team during his four-year college career. We look forward to his tremendous impact within our team in the upcoming season."

The Toronto, Ontario, native appeared in 81 games for Alaska during his three seasons, with the program not playing in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In those contests, Pyke tallied eight goals and 33 assists for 41 points.

Pyke helped the Nanooks reach new heights this past year, just missing the NCAA Tournament and finishing with a 22-10-2 overall record. He led all Nanook defensemen with 19 points and his 15 helpers were third overall on the squad. Four of those contests saw him record multiple points, including a four-game point streak to end the season.

After appearing in only 13 games during his freshman season, Pyke has played in 68 straight games and has nearly replicated his offensive production with 20 and 19 points, respectively, in each of those two seasons. The blueliner has also blocked 74 shots over that span, the most by a UAF player, carries a plus-15 rating during that time and plus-16 for his career.
