AZUSA, Calif./LONG BEACH, Calif. – North Dakota concluded competition in a pair of California meets on Saturday, with one of the meets ending around 2 a.m. Sunday morning in the central time zone. Shortly after 1 a.m. in North Dakota, Luke Labatte broke the school record in the 1,500 meters. The Fighting Hawks set nine new top-10 marks in program history at the meets on Saturday/Sunday, highlighted by Jerzie Finstad putting three improvements on the UND top-10 list.

In the first hours of Sunday in North Dakota, Labatte took the track in section one of the 1,500 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational and broke the school record with a PR time of 3:49.19. The previous record was set by teammate Aleksa Milanovic with a time of 3:51.17 in San Francisco earlier this season. Milanovic ran in a later heat (around 1:30 a.m.) and had a chance to reclaim his record, but fell short, finishing with a personal-best time of 3:49.82. With that time, Milanovic holds the second-fastest 1,500 meter time in UND history.

North Dakota opened the day with the 4x100-meter relay at the Bryan Clay Invitational and posted the third-fastest time in school history with a time of 48.02. The relay squad consisted of Finstad, Aleece Durbin, Carley Johnson and Hinewai Knowles.

Less than an hour later, Finstad took the track in the 400-meters and posted the No. 4 time in program history with a personal-best time of 55.71. Later in the meet, Finstad took part in the 200 meters and clocked a PR of 24.71, moving her up to No. 5 on the UND all-time performance list. She finished the day 3-for-3, making an improvement to the UND top-10 list each time she stepped on the track at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday.

As Saturday moved into Sunday in the central time zone, Conny Wohlfahrt recorded a personal-best time of 4:31.74 in section one of the 1,500 meters, which improved her No. 9 time on the UND top-10 list.

In the final hours of Saturday, Justin Jelaca and Alec Nelson ran in section two of the 1,500 meters. Jelaca finished with the fourth-fastest time in program history with a personal-best time of 3:53.63, while Nelson clocked a PR of 3:55.94, which now ranks No. 7 in school history.

Earlier in the meet, Austin Wolf and Ashley Conneran each placed in their respective sections of the high jump. Wolf tied for third in his section with a clearance of 6-9 1/2 (2.07m), while Conneran finished seventh in her section with a height of 5-1 3/4 (1.57m).

At the Beach Invitational, Kenna Curry moved up to No. 7 on the UND top-10 list in the discus with a personal-best throw of 158-10 (48.43m).

North Dakota will visit Fargo on Friday and Saturday for the Bison Open.
