GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota head hockey coach Brad Berry announced on Wednesday that forward Hunter Johannes will transfer to UND for his final season of eligibility in 2023-24.
"We are excited to have Hunter play his final season at North Dakota," said Berry. "His ability to play a strong, two-way game with size, speed and grit are a perfect addition to our team and what we want our culture to be."
Johannes played last season at Lindenwood, helping the Lions in their inaugural season as a Division I program in 2022-23. The Eden Prairie, Minn., native tied for the team lead with 13 goals while adding 16 assists to finish second on the squad with 29 points. Johannes potted goals against multiple ranked foes, including Minnesota, Michigan, Denver and North Dakota.
The forward spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career at American International, potting four goals and five assists over 29 games for the Yellowjackets.
Johannes is the sixth transfer addition for North Dakota entering 2023-24, joining defensemen Garrett Pyke, Keaton Pehrson and Bennett Zmolek, forward Cameron Berg and goaltender Ludvig Persson.
