GRAND FORKS, N.D. –The North Dakota basketball team announced the addition of forward Deng Mayar to their roster for the 2023-24 season Tuesday. Mayar joins the team after spending this past season at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas.

Mayar started all 30 games for Howard this past season, averaging almost 24 minutes per game and 11.5 points per game; shooting over 52% from the floor. He also averaged 7.2 rebounds per game, and nearly an assist per game. He racked up 32 steals and 11 blocks as well.

Coach Paul Sather was elated to add the Salt Lake City native, saying, "Deng brings a great presence to the team.  He's a long, lengthy athlete that competes with great energy. He shoots a high percentage, averaging nearly 20 points per 40 minutes this past season at Howard College and also rebounds very well. Deng can stretch the floor offensively but loves to attack the rim and put pressure on the defense. He can make an immediate impact for us on our frontline."
