INDIANOLA, Iowa/DES MOINES, Iowa – The North Dakota distance team wrapped up competition at the Kip Janvrin Open on Friday, while the UND throwers resumed action at the Drake Relays. The UND runners in the opening heat of the 800 meters at the Kip Janvrin Open were the story of the day, with all three Fighting Hawks taking part in the heat and each of them finishing with a top-four mark in program history, including the school record.

Alec Nelson ran a personal-best time of 1:48.97 in the 800 meters at the Kip Janvrin Open, breaking the school record of 1:50.04, which was set by Jesse Fenstermacher at the 2015 Big Sky Outdoor Championships. Jesse Middendorf was the next Hawk to cross the finish line and ran the second-fastest time in UND history with a PR of 1:49.73, which also would have broken the previous school record. Aleksa Milanovic was the final UND runner in the heat and clocked a PR of 1:50.48, moving him up to No. 4 on the UND top-10 list. After all nine heats were complete, UND's times held up and placed. Nelson took fifth, trailed by Middendorf in sixth and Milanovic placing eighth.

At the Drake Relays, Allison Lardy was the top finisher in the shot put and was fifth with a throw of 47-8 1/2 (14.54m).

North Dakota wrapped up the day with Kenna Curry and Natalie Mohring throwing in the invitational section of the discus at Drake. Curry placed sixth with a toss of 158-3 (48.25m), while Mohring finished seventh with a mark of 152-11 (46.61m).

UND will commence competition at the Ron Masanz Classic on Saturday, while a pair of Fighting Hawk throwers will conclude their stay at the Drake Relays on Saturday afternoon.
