Grand Forks, N.D.- Incoming Junior transfer Gianna Hall was called up earlier this week to the Panama National Football team.
Hall said "Playing for the Panamanian National team means to me that I now have something very valuable in today's world. I have the ability to be kind, compassionate and passionate for the entire country and the supporters that come with us. In a span of what feels like a day I have been put on a stage where I have the opportunity to really leave a mark on women's soccer and for the beautiful country of Panama."
As for the soccer aspect, being called up has been a dream come true. The moment I got called up reminded me why I have dedicated so much of my time and life to this sport. It made me even more grateful to have this sport as such a huge part of my life.
Head coach Chris Logan said " It's an immense achievement for Gianna to be called up to compete on the international stage! Athletes all across the world dream of representing their national team and Gianna has had that dream come true."
Hall said this about her family's reaction to the news " Being able to witness my mother and grandmother tear up out of joy because I am representing their country fills my heart more than I ever thought possible. "
Panama will play Colombia tonight at 7:30 pm (CT).Â
