SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Summit League announced on Thursday the entire 2023-24 conference slate for the upcoming women's basketball season. The schedule features 16 games plus two previously announcedÂ
Big Sky Challenge games, highlighted by nine home games and nine road games that will be played on Thursdays and Saturday.
North Dakota will open up conference play on the road against St. Thomas on Friday, December 29, before returning to Grand Forks to open the home portion of the schedule against the defending regular season and tournament champions, South Dakota State to close out 2023 on New Year's Eve.Â
2024 kicks off the Big Sky Challenge games with the Fighting Hawks flying to take on Idaho State on Jan. 3 before closing the event at home against Eastern Washington on Jan. 6.Â
NoDak jumps right back into league action with home battles against Omaha on Jan.11th and Kansas City on Jan 13th followed by a road trip for two against Oral Roberts on Jan. 18th and Denver on Jan. 20th. Rounding out January, St. Thomas comes to town on Jan. 27.
February opens with a pair of rivalry showdowns inside the Betty, beginning with South Dakota, a team that UND defeated for the first time since joining the Summit League last season, on Feb. 1 and an old-school doubleheader with the men against North Dakota State on Feb. 3.Â
The Hawks will then hit the road to take on Omaha from Baxter Arena on Feb. 8th before continuing the trek down I-29 to Kansas City on Feb. 10th. UND closes out the home slate with Denver on Feb. 15 and Oral Roberts on Feb. 17, where the program will honor the graduating class with its annual celebration.
A trio of tough road games await to close the regular season, beginning with another rivalry doubleheader with North Dakota State on Feb. 24, as UND aims for its first win in Fargo since Dec. 10, 2016. NoDak looks to start its extended stay in South Dakota with battles against South Dakota State on Feb. 29 and South Dakota on Mar. 2 before the Summit League Women's Basketball Championship in Sioux Falls.Â
The 2023-24 Summit League Women's Basketball Championship returns to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. for the ninth time. The five day event will run March 8th- 12th, with the tournament champion earning an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament.
