The 2023 home schedule features six contests, making it the first time UND has hosted six opponents inside the Alerus Center since the 2019 season.
The Fighting Hawks will open the 2023 season with Drake inside the Alerus Center at 3 p.m. on Sept. 2. The two squads have met four times previously and UND is 4-0 against the Bulldogs, most recently winning 38-0 in the 2021 Potato Bowl USA Game.
The following week, North Dakota will continue its homestand with Northern Arizona in the 2023 Potato Bowl USA Game sponsored by Midco Sports on Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. The two teams have never met in the Potato Bowl USA Game, but the last time they faced off inside the Alerus Center, North Dakota came away with a thrilling 38-31 victory on Nov. 12, 2016. NoDak also won the meeting between the two squads in Flagstaff last season, 27-24.
Four weeks later, North Dakota will return home for Homecoming and will battle Western Illinois at 1 p.m. on Oct. 7. The game will be sponsored by PetroServe USA, and it will mark only the second time in series history that the game will be played in Grand Forks, with the Fighting Hawks taking the previous contest by a score of 34-10 on Oct. 23, 2021. UND is a perfect 3-0 in the series.
A week later, UND will square off with NDSU at home for just the second time in the last 20 years. The game will be played on Hall of Fame Weekend and is set to kick off at 1 p.m. on Oct. 14. North Dakota State was the runner-up in the FCS National Championship last season.
On Oct. 28, SCHEELS will sponsor the game between the Fighting Hawks and Sycamores, with kickoff slated for 1 p.m. It will be Indiana State's first time ever visiting Grand Forks and only the second game in program history between the two teams. North Dakota won the inaugural contest last season in Terre Haute, 42-7. Activities will be plentiful with it being Military Appreciation, UND Family Weekend and Band Day.
North Dakota will close its 2023 home slate on Senior Day against Illinois State. UND is 2-0 in the series, with both previous games played in Grand Forks. In the most recent game of the series, UND won 14-7 at the Alerus Center on Nov. 13, 2021.
All six of UND's home games will air on Midco Sports and will be carried on the Home of Economy Radio Network.
