GRAND FORKS, N.D. The University of North Dakota has once again been named a host for the 2027 and 2028 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Regionals, as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday afternoon.

"We are excited to be selected once again as a host institution for the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Regionals at SCHEELS Arena," said UND Deputy Athletic Director Erik Martinson. "We know that we can provide an electric playoff hockey atmosphere and love bringing that to North Dakota for our fans. We have been lucky to host this event many times and want each time to improve. Jon Kram and his staff are tremendous teammates in making this event what it is, and we can't thank the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey committee enough in believing in this group to host the 2027 and 2028 Regionals."

North Dakota has previously hosted NCAA Regionals in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023 at SCHEELS Arena, 2006 at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks and 2018 at Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., in the past 18 years.

UND is set to host the 2025 NCAA Regionals at SCHEELS Arena before also serving as the host institution for the 2026 NCAA Frozen Four from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

"The staff at SCHEELS Arena are honored and excited to be selected as hosts for the 2027 and 2028 NCAA Ice Hockey Regionals in partnership with UND," said SCHEELS Arena General Manager Jon Kram. "The great crowds & outstanding atmosphere have made this a must-see event at SCHEELS Arena. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Erik Martinson and his team once again."

The Association chose over 240 host sites for preliminary and final rounds of predetermined championships across Divisions I, II and III, primarily for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons. This cycle marked a shift from a four-year to a two-year site selection process.

The NCAA received more than 1,200 bids from member schools, conferences, cities and sports commissions across 47 states and Washington, D.C., all competing to host predetermined rounds for 87 of the NCAA's 90 championships. The respective NCAA sports committees selected the sites, with final approval from the divisional competition oversight and championships committees.
