GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota men's basketball team will host Omaha this Thursday, facing off with the Mavericks for the second time this season. Omaha took the first meeting between the two teams last month, but the Fighting Hawks have won the last two meetings in Grand Forks.
UND is riding a six-game winning streak, their second six-game winning streak of the season. The last time that NoDak won seven straight in a season was during a ten game winning streak in the 2007-08 season. The last time UND won seven straight conference games was part of a nine game NCC winning streak in 1994-95.
Scouting the Opponent
The Mavericks are led by coach Chris Crutchfield, who is in his second season as the team's head coach. He has a 21-35 record with the Mavericks and a 31-44 record overall.
The team is averaging 74.6 points per game, and allowing 70.7. From the floor the Mavericks are shooting .460 and .341 from three point range. Frankie Fidler leads the team with 19.3 points per game and 30 steals, and is second in rebounds and assists. Marquel Sutton leads them with 6.3 rebounds per game, and JJ White leads them with 67 assists. Nick Davis leads the team with 31 blocks.
Living Downtown
Last season the team broke the program record for three pointers made in a single game with 18 against Kansas City, breaking the record set on December 14, 2021 against North Central University.
North Dakota has hit at least one triple in every game dating back to Mar. 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks did not make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when UND went 0-for-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. North Dakota has hit at least one three in each of the last 181 games played.

Last Season
North Dakota finished the 2022-23 campaign with a 13-20 record, a seven win improvement over 2021-22. The Fighting Hawks won their first Summit League Tournament game in three years with an 83-68 win over Denver in the first game of the tournament. The team won six of their last nine games, regular and postseason, last year.
