NOTES: Fighting Hawks Host Coyotes on Senior Day

| By:

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota men's basketball team will host South Dakota on Saturday, on Senior Day to wrap up the regular season. The Fighting Hawks are still in contention for the two spot in the Summer League Tournament.

Earlier this season, the Fighting Hawks won 95-81 in Vermillion, and has won the last two in the series.

Against South Dakota State on Thursday, NoDak battled back-and-forth with the Jackrabbits but the shooting of the visiting jacks down the stretch lifted them to a win at the Betty.

Scouting the Opponent

The Coyotes are led by head coach Eric Peterson, who is in his second season as the team's head coach and fourth as a head coach overall. He is 24-37 as the head of the Coyotes program.

Kaleb Stewart leads the team in scoring, with 18.5 points per game in the Summit League, joined in double-figures by Lahat Thioune and Bostyn Holt at 15 and 12.3 points, respectively. Thioune is averaging 9.9 rebounds per game, which is second only to UND's Amar Kuljuhovic in conference play. Holt also leads with 51 assists.

Living Downtown

Last season the team broke the program record for three pointers made in a single game with 18 against Kansas City, breaking the record set on December 14, 2021 against North Central University.

North Dakota has hit at least one triple in every game dating back to Mar. 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks did not make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when UND went 0-for-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. North Dakota has hit at least one three in each of the last 187 games played.
