NOTES: Fighting Hawks to Face Omaha in Summit League Quarterfinal

| By:

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota men's basketball team will play Omaha in the first round of the Summit League tournament on Sunday night. The teams split the season series, with each team winning at home. Home teams have won the last six games in the series, with UND being the last road team to win—back in February of 2021. The last neutral site meeting was in March of 2019, which was won by Omaha.

Earlier this season, the Fighting Hawks won 99-78 in Grand Forks while the Mavericks won 79-61 in Omaha.

Scouting the Opponent

The Mavericks are led by head coach Chris Crutchfield, who is in his second season as the team's head coach and third as a head coach overall. He is 23-40 as the head of the Mavericks program.

Frankie Fidler leads the team in points with 19.5 per game, which is third in the Summit League and 42nd in the nation. He is also one of the top free throw shooters in the country with 203 made shots from the foul line—sixth in the nation. Marquel Sutton leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game, which is seventh in the conference. Nick Davis is fourth in the Summit League with 36 blocks.

Living Downtown

Last season the team broke the program record for three pointers made in a single game with 18 against Kansas City, breaking the record set on December 14, 2021 against North Central University.

North Dakota has hit at least one triple in every game dating back to Mar. 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks did not make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when UND went 0-for-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. North Dakota has hit at least one three in each of the last 188 games played.
