SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota distance runner Luke Labatte was named the Summit League Men's Track Peak Performer of the Week, the conference offices announced Tuesday afternoon.

Labatte broke a pair of UND records at the Bryan Clay Invitational this past week. On Thursday night, he bettered his own record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 8:38.25. He improved his own record, which he previously set at 8:40.76 at the Stanford Invitational at the end of March. Labatte's new record currently ranks No. 9 in the NCAA and No. 7 in the West Region.

Around 12:45 a.m. in North Dakota on Sunday, Labatte also earned the school record in the 1,500 meters with a PR time of 3:47.45. He broke the record of teammate Aleksa Milanovic, who set it at 3:48.40 at the 2023 Drake Relays.

North Dakota is currently slated to make the short trip to Fargo for the Bison Open on Friday but the schedule may change due to the weather forecast.
