Yonca Kutluk and
Luke Labatte were named the Summit League Track Peak Performers of the Week, the league offices announced Tuesday afternoon.
In the first minutes of Saturday in the central time zone, Kutluk destroyed the 10,000-meter school record and beat the previous record by two and a half minutes at the Stanford Invitational. She shattered the record with a time of 32:57.85. The previous record was 35:27.26, set by Hannah Oscarson at the 2021 Drake Relays. With her performance at Stanford, Kutluk earned the title of Summit League Women's Track Peak Performer of the Week. Kutluk's 10,000-meter time currently ranks No. 8 in the NCAA West Region and No. 18 in the NCAA.
Earlier on Friday at the Stanford Invitational, Labatte posted a personal-best time of 8:40.76 and broke his own program record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He broke his own record of 8:41.75, which he set at the 2023 Drake Relays. With his performance, Labatte was named the Summit League Men's Track Peak Performer of the Week. Labatte's 3,000-meter steeplechase time currently sits No. 4 in the NCAA West Region and No. 6 in the NCAA.
North Dakota will be in action this Friday and Saturday at the USD Early Bird in Vermillion, S.D.
