GRAND FORKS, N.D. - North Dakota released the 2024 football game times, promotional schedule and ticket information for its seven-game home schedule on Friday morning. UND will host three teams inside the Alerus Center that reached the FCS playoffs in 2023, and it will be the first time NoDak has hosted seven teams since the 2013 season.
The Fighting Hawks will kick off the 2024 home slate with Montana inside the Alerus Center at 6 p.m. on Sept. 7. The Griz are coming off a season where they finished with an impressive 13-2 record and reached the Semifinal Round of the FCS playoffs. North Dakota and Montana have not met on the gridiron since Oct. 13, 2018, when UND ran away with a 44-14 win inside the Alerus Center.
The following week, North Dakota will host Idaho State in the 58th Potato Bowl USA Game on Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. The two squads have met twice previously in the Potato Bowl USA Game, with UND winning 41-0 in the first-ever game in the festival's history in 1966. The Bengals came away with a win in the most recent Potato Bowl USA Game between the two, leaving Grand Forks victorious in a 25-21 decision in 2018. The last time the two teams met inside the Alerus Center, the Fighting Hawks won by a score of 35-14 in 2021. In Potato Bowl USA history, North Dakota boasts a 45-12 record, and the 2024 Potato Bowl USA Game will be sponsored by Northland Potatoes.
North Dakota will face San Diego for the first time in school history on Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. The Toreros will be the first team from the Pioneer Football League to visit the Alerus Center since the season opener last season, where the Fighting Hawks defeated the Bulldogs of Drake, 55-7. UND is 16-8-1 against current PFL members.
NoDak will conclude its four-game homestand and host the Racers on Homecoming and Hall of Fame Weekend on Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. The game will be sponsored by Petro Serve USA. It will be Murray State's first time ever visiting Grand Forks and only the second meeting in program history between the two squads. The Fighting Hawks won the inaugural contest last season in Murray, Ky., 45-31.
Three weeks later, the Fighting Hawks will return home on Oct. 19 to battle the Panthers at 1 p.m. during Family Weekend. It will be the 41st meeting between the two teams, with Northern Iowa holding a 26-14 series lead. The last time the two teams met inside the Alerus Center, North Dakota was victorious in a 29-27 thriller in the 2022 Potato Bowl USA Game.
During Military Appreciation on Nov. 9, SCHEELS will sponsor the game between the Fighting Hawks and Jackrabbits, with kickoff slated for 1 p.m. South Dakota State was both the 2022 and 2023 FCS National Champions. North Dakota leads the series between the two teams, 47-37-5, but will be looking for its first win in the series since a 28-17 win inside the Alerus Center during the 2020-21 season. The Fighting Hawks fell 42-21 in Brookings last season, but the 21 points were the most points allowed by the Jackrabbits all season.
North Dakota will wrap-up its 2024 home slate on Senior Day with South Dakota at Noon on Nov. 16. UND is 63-32-5 in the series but fell, 10-6, in a top-10 battle in Vermillion towards the end of last season. The Coyotes reached the Second Round of the FCS playoffs in 2023.
