POWELLS POINT, N.C. — North Dakota men's golf closed out its fall slate with an eighth-place finish at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate, held at Kilmarlic Golf Club. The Fighting Hawks posted rounds of 291, 295 and 294 for a 54-hole total of 880 (+28) in a 16-team field.
Joseph Kortan led the way for UND, firing a career-low 214 (+1) to tie for seventh individually. Kortan opened the tournament with a 67 (-4), the lowest round of his collegiate career, and followed with rounds of 75 and 72. The performance marked his fifth career top-10 finish and second of the season — both coming in back-to-back tournaments.
Carver Larson also turned in a strong showing, tying for 16th at 217 (+4) with rounds of 71, 75 and 71.
Nathan Peyerl finished tied for 57th at 227 (+14) with rounds of 77, 73 and 77. Carson Skarperud and Landon Miller each tied for 62nd at 228 (+15). Skarperud posted rounds of 78, 72 and 78, while Miller carded 76, 78 and 74.
William & Mary captured the team title with an even-par 852, while Georgetown finished runner-up at 859 (+7). W&M's Eli Felty earned medalist honors with a 4-under 209, edging Georgetown's Carson Erick by one stroke.
The Fighting Hawks will return to action on March 2 at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational in Sugar Land, Texas.
