SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The University of North Dakota men's golf team continued its strong spring stretch Tuesday at the UCSB Gaucho Invite, finishing sixth overall while posting its fourth straight team score under 880 this spring at Sandpiper Golf Club.
Junior Kagan Kollar paced the Fighting Hawks with a tie for sixth place, firing a 54-hole total of 213 (-3). The finish marked Kollar's third top-10 result of the season, as he opened the tournament with rounds of 70 and 69 before closing with a 74 on Tuesday.
North Dakota carded rounds of 298, 289 and 291 to finish at 878 for the tournament. The Hawks' team total continued a consistent trend throughout the spring season, with all four sub-880 performances coming since early March.
Behind Kollar, Nathan Peyerl tied for 15th at 218 (+2), while Joseph Kortan finished tied for 24th with a 222 (+6). Carver Larson tied for 39th after rebounding with a final-round 70, and Carson Skarperud rounded out the UND lineup in a tie for 46th.
UC Santa Barbara claimed the team title with an 855, followed by Denver (857) and Boise State (869). The tournament was contested at the par-72, 7,078-yard layout.
The Gaucho Invite marked North Dakota's final tune-up before the Summit League Golf Championships, scheduled for May 3–5 at Longbow Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz.
