VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of North Dakota soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to South Dakota on Sunday afternoon from First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex in Vermillion, S.D.
The loss drops UND to 0-2-2 in league play at the halfway point of the conference season, sitting with two points in the Summit League standings.
South Dakota struck early on a goal from Brooke Conway to grab a 1-0 lead in the opening 45 minutes before closing the opening half with a 13-2 shot advantage to head into the intermission with the 1-0 advantage.
The Coyotes doubled their lead in the opening five minutes of the second stanza on a strike from Klarissa Vega, but UND started to take control of the match following the USD goal.
The pressure eventually paid off for the visitors, as the Fighting Hawks struck on another goal via a set piece. After winning a corner,
Cora Ellermann curled the ball into the box for a waiting
