GRAND FORKS, N.D. – After stumbling, 34-31, in overtime to No. 22/22 South Dakota State at the Alerus Center last weekend, North Dakota dropped to No. 19 in the Stats Perform Poll and to No. 23 in the AFCA Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
The MVFC continues to have seven teams represented in the Stats Perform Poll. North Dakota State remains at the top and has all 56 first-place votes. South Dakota is just outside the top-10 at No. 12, trailed by Youngstown State at No. 14. South Dakota State moved up to No. 16, while Illinois State dropped to a tie for No. 17 with Southeastern Louisiana. North Dakota slid down to No. 19 and Southern Illinois is the final team from the conference in the poll and is No. 23.
In the AFCA Coaches' Top 25, the league has seven teams ranked. The Bison remain at the top and have 24 of the 25 first-place votes. The Penguins are No. 13, trailed by the Redbirds at No. 17 and Jackrabbits at No. 18. The Coyotes sit No. 20, while the Fighting Hawks (No. 23) and Salukis (No. 25) round out the poll for the MVFC.
No. 19/23 North Dakota will visit No. 6/7 Tennessee Tech in the FCS First Round this Saturday. Kickoff between the Fighting Hawks and Golden Eagles is set for Noon. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and will be carried on the Fighting Hawks Radio Network.
