North Dakota took part in the SDSU Holiday Open in Brookings and both the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener and the Early Bird at the TRACK at new balance last week in Boston. At the meets combined, the Fighting Hawks posted a pair of school records and added 13 improvements to the UND top-10 lists.
Jadyn Keeler had the most impressive showing for a Fighting Hawk in Boston and placed eighth in the invitational 5,000 meters with a PR time of 15:14.76 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. She obliterated her previous school record time of 15:28.29, which she set on that same track during the 2024 David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Keeler's record time in the 5,000 meters currently ranks No. 22 all-time in NCAA indoor track history. It also bettered the Canadian U23 record time of 15:17.47, which was previously set by Chloe Thomas of Connecticut last season. After her performance, Keeler earned the title of Kwik Star Summit League Women's Track Peak Performer of the Week.
The distance squad also provided fireworks in the men's 5,000 meters at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. First,
Matej Hrebacka broke the program record in his heat with a personal-best time of 14:00.86. He shattered the record of Luke Labatte, who set it at 14:08.71 at the 2023 Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. One heat later,
Louis-Lys Fanucchi rewrote the record book and bettered Hrebacka's record with a new school record time of 13:58.81.
Julia Matthews led the North Dakota field athletes over the weekend and placed twice in Brookings. She was the runner-up in the weight throw with a PR toss of 60-7 3/4 (18.48m) and improved her No. 8 mark on the UND top-10 list. Later in the meet, she also finished third in shot put with a throw of 45-0 1/4 (13.72m).
On the track at the SDSU Holiday Open, the women's sprinters shined and rearranged the UND top-10 list in the 400 meters.
Kimberly Hitchen was the runner-up with a PR of 56.42, which now ranks as the No. 6 time in UND history.
Sawyer Timmer, running in her first collegiate meet, was third in 57.37 and ran the No. 8 time in school history.
Marta Marksa placed fourth in 57.66 and that time now sits No. 10 on the UND top-10 list.
