GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota junior defenseman
Jake Livanavage was named NCHC Defenseman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning. This marks the sixth NCHC weekly defenseman honor for Livanavage in his career.
Livanavage was a force at both ends of the ice to help now-No. 4/6 North Dakota sweep St. Cloud State on the road last weekend. The UND assistant captain recorded points in both games against the Huskies, while anchoring a penalty kill unit that finished 7-for-8 in the series against one of the nation's top power play units.
The Phoenix, Ariz., native recorded a primary assist in Friday's 4-3 win, setting up North Dakota's third goal on the power play with a point shot that was deflected home by
Dylan James. The next night, he erupted for two goals, breaking a 2-2 tie in the third period to lift UND to a 4-2 win. His first goal Saturday was the game-winner and came shorthanded, marking his first career shorthanded goal. Livanavage then sealed the sweep with an empty-net goal for his first career multi-goal game.
Livanavage finished the series with two goals and three points, both of which led NCHC defensemen and tied all NCHC skaters for tops on the weekend. He also blocked three shots against the Huskies and posted a +1 plus/minus in the series, while firing three shots on goal. Livanavage now has three goals in 16 games this season, while his 10 assists are second on the team and his 13 points pace UND defensemen.
No. 4/6 North Dakota will close out 2025 this weekend with a series against Omaha beginning on Friday night at 7:07 p.m. from Ralph Engelstad Arena.
