UND hangs love on Bellarmine in 7-0 rout

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 win over Bellarmine in the first of two matches against the Knights on Friday night from Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D.

In the home opener for UND, the Fighting Hawks dropped only one set in the entire match to notch back-to-back victories and improve to 5-3 on the season.

It was a strong start in doubles play for the hosts, with Leo Galliano and Andrew Hayduke II starting it off with a 6-0 blanking on the bottom court before the top pairing of Ange-Kevin Koua and Leandro Zgraggen following with a 6-3 victory to clinch the 1-0 lead for UND. The middle duo of Ethan Terry and Jerall Yasin followed suit with a 6-3 victory of their own to claim all three matches in two-man play.

Hayduke II kept the momentum rolling into singles play, notching back-to-back 6-0 scores on the No. 4 court to complete his day without dropping a game and extend the lead to 2-0. Koua recorded the third point of the night for the green and white with a 6-4, 6-2 win from the second spot before Jayho Hong provided the clinch with another 6-4, 6-2 triumph from the No. 6 position.

Galliano and UND didn't stop despite clinching the match, as the rookie pushed the lead to 5-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 win on the No. 3 court and Zgraggen notching a pair of 7-5 scores from the top spot to make it 6-0. Terry closed out the match and secured the shutout victory for the Hawks with a 7-6, 6-7, 10-8 win at the fifth position.

North Dakota will look to make it a weekend sweep over Bellarmine tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. from Choice Health and Fitness.
