NoDak drops 4-3 decision to St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to St. Thomas on Friday evening in the conference opener from St. Paul, Minn.

North Dakota (7-3, 0-1 Summit League) could not get it going in doubles action, as St. Thomas grabbed a 1-0 lead with a pair of wins on the top and bottom courts. The pairing of Jule Schulte and Nore Heinitz remained perfect with a 6-4 victory from the middle spot.

Ethel Li brought the match even at 1-1 as the contest moved into singles play, grabbing a 6-2, 6-1 triumph from the No. 3 court, but three straight wins by the Tommies gave the hosts the match victory.

Alyssa Giupponi and Andrea Pineda grabbed the second and third points for NoDak from the sixth and first positions, each notching triumphs in three sets.

North Dakota jumps right back into action tomorrow morning against Minnesota on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. (CT).
