UND completes Florida sweep with 6-1 win over Niagara

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team concluded a perfect week in the Sunshine State on Wednesday, rolling to a 6-1 win over Niagara in Orlando, Fla.

The win extends UND's winning streak to nine, which is tied for the second-longest win streak in the program's Division I era and moves the Fighting Hawks to 12-3 overall on the season.

Once again, NoDak had to battle for the doubles point, as Ethan Terry and Andrew Hayduke II opened it up with 6-1 win on the No. 2 court, but the Purple Eagles responded with a 6-1 score of their own at the No. 3 spot to turn all attention to the top position to decide doubles point. The top pairing of Ange-Kevin Koua and Leandro Zgraggen sealed the 1-0 start for the green and white with a 6-3 victory to get the Hawks rolling.

UND took control of the match following the doubles point, grabbing the next five singles victories to quickly grab the overall match victory with six points. Hayduke II extended the lead to 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 win on the fourth position before Koua traded sets with his opponent before an injury retirement gave the senior a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (inj.) victory on the No. 2 court and a 3-0 NoDak advantage.

Leo Galliano clinched the match from the No. 3 spot by a 6-2, 6-4 score before Zgraggen also won via an injury retirement by a 7-5, 4-6, 4-1 score to make it 5-0 in favor of UND. Terry added the final win of the day for the green and white, posting a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 triumph on the No. 5 court to close out the eventual 6-1 victory.

North Dakota returns home for a conference showdown with Oral Roberts on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. from Choice Health and Fitness.
