Fighting Hawk women receive best ranking in Division I history

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota will travel to Minneapolis and Fargo for a pair of meets this week.

Select Fighting Hawks will make the trip to Minneapolis for the Gary Wilson Invitational on Wednesday. Live results from that meet will be provided by Wayzata Results.

North Dakota will also be in action at the Bison Open on Thursday and Friday, with the throwers beginning the competition on Thursday afternoon. Live results will be available at Hero's Timing.

National Poll
In the most recent national poll released by the USTFCCCA, the UND women jumped up 21 spots and now rank No. 44 nationally.

The No. 44-ranking is the best the Fighting Hawk women have ever been ranked since the creation of the poll in 2011. UND is also the second-best ranked team from the Summit League in the poll, only trailing South Dakota (No. 38).

As a whole, North Dakota also has three student-athletes ranked in the top-15 of their respective events nationally. Kenna Curry (hammer throw) and Jadyn Keeler (10,000 meters) lead the women and are both No. 6 nationally, while Ethan Thomas leads the men and is No. 14 in the country in the shot put.

Ranked in the Midwest Region
In the latest USTFCCCA Midwest Region rankings, the Fighting Hawk women are No. 12 and the North Dakota men are No. 19.

On the women's squad, five Fighting Hawks sit in the top-10 regionally. Jadyn Keeler paces the group with the No. 1 time in both the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters. Kenna Curry (No. 3 in the hammer throw) and Malene Kollberg (No. 4 in the heptathlon) are also in the top five. Frida Giersdorff rounds out the top-10 in the region and is No. 9 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

For the men, Ethan Thomas has the top ranking for the squad and has the No. 5 shot put mark in the region. Henrik Lindstrot is the next-best ranked Hawk and is just outside the top-10 with the No. 11 time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
