GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Incoming freshman defenseman and top prospect Keaton Verhoeff has been invited to Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence Summer Camp, as announced by the organization on Thursday evening.
Verhoeff is one of the 40 players named to Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team selection camp for an opportunity to compete at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, set for Aug. 11-16 in Brno, Czechia, and Trencin, Slovakia.
The selection camp, set for
July 29-Aug. 1 at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario, will include a pair of Red-White games on July 31 and Aug. 1. Following camp, Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team will practice at MET Arena in Szekesfehervar, Hungary, from Aug. 3-6. It will take on Hungary's national under-20 team on Aug. 7 in Budapest and Slovakia on Aug. 9 at Easton Arena in Piestany as part of its pre-tournament schedule.
Verhoeff, who is expected to make the team, already has a gold medal to his name for his home nation after helping Canada capture the crown at the 2025 IIHF U-18 Men's World Championships. In that tournament, Verhoeff finished with five points (1G, 4A) in five games while also notching a plus-6 rating.
Hockey Canada is also set to name its roster for the upcoming World Junior Summer Showcase in Minneapolis, Minn., where incoming freshman forward Cole Reschny is expected to take part.
