POCATELLO, Idaho – The University of North Dakota soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory over Idaho State on Sunday afternoon from Davis Field in Pocatello, Idaho.
The win caps off an unbeaten weekend in the state of Idaho for North Dakota (6-3-1) to close out nonconference play, while also giving the Fighting Hawks six nonconference wins for the third time since moving up to Division I (2018, 2019, 2025).
Grace Miller was once again the story between the pipes for the visitors, as the sophomore matched her career high with 11 saves in the win. The San Diego, Calif., native now has five wins and four shutouts this season, including a trio of clean sheets on the road.
Miller was called upon early in the contest, as the sophomore had to make multiple sparkling stops to keep the contest scoreless in the opening half.
After going nearly the entire opening 45 minutes without a shot on goal, UND made its one attempt count in the 43rd minute.
Cora Ellermann was able to get free on the edge of the box and used her left foot to find the back of the net to give NoDak a 1-0 lead as the half came to a close.
Physicality defined the second half, as the two teams combined for 23 fouls and two yellow cards over the final 45 minutes. Miller had to come up big once again as well, making five saves in the second stanza to secure the shutout.
The UND defense was stout as the game wore on, holding Idaho State (2-5-2) to just one shot attempt over the final 20 minutes to close out the 1-0 win.
North Dakota will enjoy a week off before opening conference action at home against Denver on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 3:00 p.m. from Bronson Field.
