The No. 4/7 Fighting Hawks will be on high alert Saturday at the UNI-Dome as they are set to face a (RV/NR) Northern Iowa squad that has already knocked off a top-five opponent at home this season and received 60 votes in the Stats poll, which had the Panthers just three spots outside the top 25.

UNI, who had a bye last weekend, turned that trick on Sept. 26 when it defeated No. 3/4 Illinois State 28-21 in the MVFC opener for both teams. It was the second win of the young season for the Panthers and they are just one shy of their total from head coach Todd Stepsis' first season in charge when his squad finished 3-9.

UND is off to a 2-0 start in conference play for the second consecutive season under head coach Eric Schmidt. The latest victory was a wild one as the Fighting Hawks erased a 21-0 deficit by scoring 55 unanswered points in a Homecoming win over Murray State last Saturday.

Schmidt won the first battle between these two second-year head coaches features, earning a 35-7 victory over Stepsis as these teams will play in Cedar Falls for the second straight year. The Fighting Hawks scored a defensive touchdown to get on the board and put up 35 straight points before UNI tacked on a late score in the final minute.
