NOTES: UND Softball Opens Season in Honolulu with Paradise Classic

HONOLULU, Hawai'i – The North Dakota softball team begins its 2026 season in Honolulu on Thursday evening, a part of a five-game weekend in the Paradise Classic at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. The Hawks will open up against Pacific (4 p.m.) and Seattle (6:30 p.m.) on Thursday, followed by Seattle (2 p.m.) and Hawai'i (7 p.m.) on Friday and concluded against Pacific (2 p.m.) on Saturday.

 UND owns a 3-9 record all-time against the three opponents combined, being 3-4 against Seattle, 0-2 against Pacific and 0-3 against Hawai'i. It is the first time NoDak will see any of these teams since Feb. 25, 2022, when the Hawks lost 3-1 to the Rainbow Wahine.

NoDak is coming off a 26-30 record in 2025, tying the record for most wins in program history. It was the first 20-win since by UND since 2019 (22).

On the Come Up
The Fighting Hawks return 21 players from last year's squad, losing 10 players and bringing in 11. Offensively, North Dakota brings back 64.9% of its hit production and 70.8% of its home run production. UND's .254 team batting average last season was the highest total since 2014. The Fighting Hawks 76 doubles and 163 walks in 2025 were program records.
